Palmyre Loisirs

Set in a shady woodland glade surrounded by palm trees, Palmyre Loisirs is a large bustling holiday park with a friendly atmosphere, suitable for youngsters and teenagers alike.

By day the water complex with its three swimming pools, paddling pool and huge waterslide provide hours of fun. Aqua aerobics, water polo and dancing are just some of the activities arranged by the animateurs at the poolside. A children’s playground and a large sandy area (ideal for the sandcastle lovers) are located close by. Cool down with a refreshing drink or ice cream at the shady outdoor bar.

Activities for children of all ages are arranged by the holiday park owners and include arts and crafts, sports and games. Palmyre Loisirs has a big open air amphitheatre and a stage, the ideal setting for evening entertainment. Acts include cabarets, karaoke, competitions and bands. All entertainment can be viewed from the bar or restaurant. Pizzas and crêpes are available for takeaway.

There are many cycle routes in the area which are ideal for discovering and exploring the countryside.

LA PALMYRE – This local resort is a hive of activity with its many shops, bars and restaurants. Palmyre Zoo, reputed to be the best in Europe with over 1600 animals and birds is well worth visiting, arrange to see the sea lions performance while you are there.

Beaches in this area are superb and many have lifeguards.

La Rochelle – This is now the largest yachting centre on France’s Atlantic coast. This old town also houses many fine shops and superb restaurants. Chez André is one such restaurant, internationally renowned and ideal for that special occasion.

La Palais sur Mer – A pretty town just a short drive from Palmyre Loisirs, particularly lovely in the late evening as the sun sets. There are many bistros and bars, some of which overlook the sheltered cove.

Royan – Spend a day in Royan, a large modern seaside town and port with a long promenade lined with bars, cafes and shops.

Luna Park – This is an amusement park located close to Palmyre Loisirs which opens in the evenings. A wide selection of games and entertainments are available for children such as bumpers, haunted house experience, rifle range, roundabouts etc.

Cognac – Visit Cognac with its many distilleries renowned for making the finest brandies in the world. A “Hennessy Visit” will be of particular interest to the Irish holidaymaker. This includes a short boat cruise, tour of the warehouses with all their ancient equipment as well as a sampling of an aperitif at the conclusion of the trip.
